Alessandro Fiamengo : We will have to work really hard to come over this moment.

Hello Alessandro

1. How does the Covid 19 situation affect you and how do you deal with it?
In Italy, we are in quarantine and we have been locked in our houses since March 14th. There are a lot of restrictions and we can go out only to buy basic goods, such as food or medicaments, or for any proven needs. I go out once a week to do the shopping while I stay home for the remaining time, as required by the Italian law.

2. Many have adjusted their training, how did you attune your activities?
In this situation, keeping motivation high is very difficult, especially because I don’t have a clear goal to pursue. Since we found ourselves in this situation out of the moment, I couldn’t equip myself because I had just moved into my new home and so I created a floor exercises training card, committing part of my training to refine the technique with shadow boxing

3. What’s you view on the virus, how should we continue?
I’m not a professional on this topic, I keep informed with the news and social media. From the information I have I think that the only solution to the problem is to keep staying home waiting for the emergency to be contained, following rules and restrictions.
Right now I’m really scared of the economic crisis that is threatening my country and the whole world. We will have to work really hard to come over this moment.

4. What is your day in self-isolation like?
In Italy we are not in self-isolation, unfortunately we didn’t choose to stay at home or not, all citizen must stay at home!
In the morning I plan everything I have or I want to do during the day to keep me busy at home. I discovered new passions such as cinema, reading and cooking. My friends and I date on video calls to cook, play and chat together just to feel less lonely even if we are far away.
The rest of the day I study and of course, I train myself at evening, recording tutorials for my gym pupils.

5. What does this hiatus from competition mean to you?
It’s a pity that it came now because I had achieved a good balance in training and in competition reaching a winning mentality and mental balance, this break wasn’t necessary.
Since the last match went very well I would have liked to repeat or improve the last performance without it taking too long before the next match.
The ring’s lack is very strong, because for me it’s like a drug i can’t live without. I miss the feeling of being between those four strings, the emotions that only a match can give me.

6. Still, it seems that some don’t take the situation seriously enough?
My region, Friuli Venezia Giulia, has been recognized as the region that is most compliant with the rules and restrictions. Italy was one of the first countries to understand the severity of the pandemic.
What frightens me is to see other nations taking it too lightly and paying the consequences, and there are still too many countries taking it too lightly and putting the lives of millions of people at risk. This is not a game! People are dying every day and doesn’t have the right to a funeral. In some areas of Italy, the so-called hot zone, there are so many deads that they have to move the bodies to other cities to cremate them because there isn’t enough space.
Thousands of people are loosing their loved ones without saying goodbye one last time. The situation is creepy, this is the moment to act following the rules!

7. Any message to our readers?
Guys, I’ll repeat it thousands of times if needed, stay at home, hang in there, this is the only way we can knock – out this virus and win this great world match.

SLOVENSKA VERZIJA

Thank you for your time and best of luck

Milan Krušič
